月曜日の朝、私は郵便局へ行きました。
沖縄に住んでいるおばあさんに、重い箱を送りたかったです。
高いと思って、少し心配でした。
郵便局の人に「いくらですか」と聞きました。
郵便局の人は「二千百六十円です」と言いました。
私は「カードで払ってもいいですか」と聞いて、カードで払って、箱を送りました。

Grammar / Notes
- て-form linking actions The て-form joins two actions in order: Xて、Yます means ‘do X and then Y’. Only the last verb carries the tense and the politeness. 私は「カードで払ってもいいですか」と聞いて、カードで払って、箱を送りました。(“I asked, ‘Can I pay by card?’ then paid by card and sent the box.”)
English
The Box at the Post Office
On Monday morning, I went to the post office.
I wanted to send a heavy box to my grandmother who lives in Okinawa.
I thought it might be expensive, so I was a little worried.
I asked the post office staff, “How much is it?”
The post office staff said, “It is 2,160 yen.”
I asked, “Can I pay by card?” then paid by card and sent the box.
