火曜日の午後、私は病院で先生から新しい薬をもらいました。
前の薬は、いつも朝に飲んでいました。
でも、この新しい薬の時間が分かりませんでした。
「先生、この薬はいつ飲みますか」と聞きました。
先生は紙に「晩ごはんの後」と大きく書きました。
紙を見て、薬の時間がよく分かりました。

Grammar / Notes
- Frequency adverbs Adverbs such as いつも, よく and ときどき say how often something happens and stand before the verb. あまり goes with a negative verb and means ‘not much’. 前の薬は、いつも朝に飲んでいました。(“I had always taken my previous medicine in the morning.”)
- Adjectives as adverbs (〜く / 〜に) An adjective describes a verb by changing its ending: an i-adjective replaces い with く (いい becomes よく) and a na-adjective takes に, as in 早く and 静かに. 先生は紙に「晩ごはんの後」と大きく書きました。(“The doctor wrote “after dinner” in large letters on a piece of paper.”)
English
The Medicine with Large Writing
On Tuesday afternoon, I received some new medicine from the doctor at the hospital.
I had always taken my previous medicine in the morning.
But I did not know when to take this new medicine.
I asked, “Doctor, when do I take this medicine?”
The doctor wrote “after dinner” in large letters on a piece of paper.
After looking at the paper, I understood clearly when to take the medicine.
