Grammar / Notes

  • 〜たことがあります (have done) attaches to the た-form and says that someone has had the experience of doing something at least once. (“But, because I have forgotten my camera at home before too, I immediately called my mother and asked.”)
  • 〜と言いいます (say that) reports what someone says, and marks the reported content. An indirectly reported clause normally takes the plain form. A direct quotation in keeps the speaker’s original wording. (“My mother said, ‘The camera is in your room.’”)
